Team RRR News

We had a great time at the Team RRR party on January 28. Thanks to the 30+ who came, and congratulations again to the incentive award winners. We had some really nice singlets, vests, and jackets to give out to the teammates who ran in 5 or more races in 2009.

Recapping our 2009 performance in the NYRR team points championship series:
  • We had 30-44 participants in just about every NYRR race
  • RRR had two NYRR "runner of the year" nominees in their age groups - Marie Killeen and Josephine Patten.
  • The Men's 60+ (Swifty Sixties) team won the 2nd place trophy for the year
  • The W60+ team were 4th
  • The M and W 50+ teams improved two places over 2008
  • The M40+ team improved 8 places to #8 of 77 teams
  • The W40+ and W Open teams were 14th of 91 teams
  • The M Open B team moved up 5 places to #8 of 92 teams
  • 12 people from RRR won individual age group trophies (top 3) during the year, including 8 people who were #1. Note: I counted about 36 trophies in total, including 13 for Josephine!

We are looking forward to more success in 2010. The 2010 NYRR teams points racing schedule is now official. The first team points race is the Coogan's 5K in Washington Heights on March 7.

The first Rockland Road Runners sponsored race of the year will be the George Wodicka Hook Mountain Half Marathon and Hope 5K on April 18. Register early to prove that you can handle the Hook one more time.

We will also defend our Interclub Challenge championship title on April 25 up in Sullivan county. Please mark your calendars for this day. We had a huge turnout last year on our home turf, but now we need to show we can win on the road. Details to follow.
